I’ve been so preoccupied, lately with the whole ”out-of-a-job” thing and the whole ”impending stardom” thing, that I completely forgot the whole “WE SOLD OUR HOUSE” thing!
In the first 4 days it was on the market, we had 12 showings – which made it nice and easy to keep clean because it seemed like there were always strangers walking through our house.
On the 4th day, we got 2 offers – one had some pretty unreasonable conditions and we accepted the other one!
Then there was the inspection, some back-and-forth negotiations, and the sale was final at the end of last week.
Its pretty exciting but I think I am having a hard time actually believing that after 12 years, and the only home I have known with Phil, we will be moving out.
Or maybe its just because we have no idea where we are moving to.
COMMENCE PANICKING.
I know looking for a new house should be the fun and exciting part of the process, but because I am going to be out of work in the very near future, we don’t want to commit to a big mortgage. But I hope to stay wherever we move to next for a very long time, so I don’t want to skimp out on a home that I won’t be happy in just because it was cheaper.
And I am starting to get discouraged about what we are finding in our price range, in the neighbourhoods that we like (ie: the properties are crap).
Turns out we have expensive tastes…who knew?
But we are going out with our realtor this weekend, and we have a giant list of places to check out – everything from apartment-style condos and townhouses to single family homes. We want to find out where we can get the most for our meagre dollar - and I just really hope we can find something that we like (that we can afford).
But just in case we haven’t found anything before the new owners take possession…anybody got a couch we can crash on?
We can pay rent in homemade Bailey’s…
