100 happy days; a perfect start to the day

Since the start of the year, I have made a wholehearted attempt at being happier.

As I mentioned in this post, I had been having a hard time with school and my practicum, and it was sapping me of all my energy.  I was tired and grumpy and sad and angry and I was probably as annoying to others as they were to me. But that’s over now – I feel better and more positive, and I am trying to look at life in a new way.

When I came across 100 Happy Days, it fit what I was trying to do so perfectly that I couldn’t not participate.

So every day, for the next 100 days, I will post a picture of something that made me happy (which, coincidentally also fits with my New Year’s resolution to blog more).   I mean, this blog is called JOYFUL follies, dammit, and its time it started feeling that way again!

Day 1 = the perfect cup of coffee

I have worked for the past 7 days, and consumed crappy coffee to help me get through them.  So today, on my first day off, I couldn’t wait to get up and make myself the perfect cup of coffee.

Phil and I found this Bodum coffee grinder which grinds super fine espresso. And because the grinder didn’t break the bank, we could splurge on great beans from Cafe Leva. Of course, as good as any cup of coffee is, it can’t be considered perfect without a splash* of Phil’s homemade Bailey’s.

So that’s how I kicked off my day, and my 100 Happy Days.

What made you happy today?

  1. I’m going to join you in your quest of 100 happy days :) Today I was happy to be done work at 3:30 because I was so tired/sleepy. I was up until 1 a.m. last night thanks to a caramel brulee latte after 2 p.m. on Sunday (lesson learned).
